The Model Teenager

 Introduction: "PTL for prayer, the policeman and the cell phone"

 His mind is full of the knowledge of God.

He is God's creature
He lives in God's creation
God sets the rules
God judges the life he lives in the world
God has lovingly provided for his salvation through faith 

His heart is slanted towards the Lord

He follows God's rules for a good life and great eternity
He depends on God's power to be his strength
He learns to trust in the Lord all the time 

His hands are used to serve God and others

Whatever he does is done in God's will
Whatever he does is done for God's pleasure
Whatever he does is done for the benefit of others

 

MESSAGE:
"PRESENT YOUR HEAD, YOUR HEART, AND YOUR HANDS
TO GOD FOR HIS PURPOSE, FOR HIS GLORY, AND
FOR HIS APPROVAL EVERYDAY."

Introduction: "What if the rich man could have lived life over"

Managing your time for God's design

God grants you enough time to fulfill His purpose for life
Failing to fulfill His purpose is a breach of faith
You must use your time wisely for God's purpose
How you use your time is preparation for how you will be used beyond time 

Managing your wealth according to God's will

What you own God owns
What you own God has already budgeted
Obeying God's budget is an act of worship
When you follow God's budget you are systematic and generous in your giving

"WHEN YOU APPLY FAITH TO YOUR DAYS AND TO YOUR DOLLARS,
YOU FULFILL YOUR PLACE IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD."

Marriage

 Introduction: "At first glance"

 When marriages are in a crisis the nation is in a crisis

 God has a design for marriage

Marriage is a covenant Malachi 2:14

It is a covenant of submission (Ephesians 5)
It is a covenant for a lifetime (Mark 10)

Marriage has a pattern

A godly husband and wife complimenting each other reflect the image of God. (Genesis 1:27)
A marriage is to multiply a godly witness (Genesis 1:28)
Men and women are equal in value. (Galatians 3:28)
A husband and a wife have been given divinely-prescribed roles in a marriage.

A husband is to be a sacrificial servant-leader in his marriage. (Ephesians 5:25)
A wife is to be a supportive helper in her marriage. (Genesis 2:18) 

MESSAGE:
"THE LORD DESIGNED MARRIAGE TO BE HIS WITNESS,
A BLESSING TO EACH PARTNER,
AND A FORCE FOR GOOD IN THE WORLD."

To live sensibly (Relationship to yourself)

Preschool years - Parents are teachers

Significance - sin - salvation

Ages 6 to 12 - Parents are coaches

Saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ

Convictions for a lifetime are forming

Knowing God's Will for My Life

The essential self - I was created as a reflection of the Lord

I had a mental likeness

The social self - I can be restored in my reflection of the Lord

Introduction:  “This is not your father’s America anymore!”

Six conditions of the crumbling culture in a dying society

            Increasing ease of divorce
            Elimination of the real meaning of the marriage ceremony
            Promotion of alternative family forms
            The failure to protect traditions
            Denial that adultery is a sin
            Increasing acceptance of sexual perversions

Renewing of faith to restore a society

            The context of correction has not changed

                        The heart of sinful man has not changed
                        God has not changed
                        The Bible has not changed
                        God’s way of working has not changed

            The content of correction has not changed (Deuteronomy 6:4-7, 24)

                        God alone is the Lord our God (6:4)
                        We love the Lord our God (6:5)
                        We live what we teach about the Lord (6:6-7)
                        To fail here is to fail the next generation (6:24)

The renewal of marriages will renew a society (Genesis 2:18-25)

            Marriage is God’s invention to establish the family (2:18-23)

                        Corresponding members
                        Complementary partners

            Marriage is designed to survive (2:24-25)

                        Leaving
                        Cleaving
                        Becoming
                        Caring

MESSAGE:
AS ARE THE MARRIAGES, SO ARE THE FAMILIES;
AND AS ARE THE FAMILIES, SO IS THE NATION.

Being an Effective Parent

Introduction:  “Experiencing lessons for a lifetime”

Effective parenting is best 2 on 1

Effective parenting is important to the Lord

            It was Abraham’s responsibility (Genesis 18:19)
            It was Joshua’s determination (Joshua 24:15/Judges 2:7)
            It was Eli’s failure (I Samuel 3:13)
            It was Samuel’s disappointment (I Samuel 8:1,3)
            It was the standard for the kings (II Kings 15:1-3, 8)
            It was expected of the godly (Ephesians 6:4/Colossians 3:21)
            It was a prerequisite to becoming a church leader (I Timothy 3:4-5)

Effective parenting is living and teaching the lessons of God’s grace

            The character of God’s saving grace

                        My destiny has been determined by my faith in Christ
                        My devotion is being determined by my love for Christ
                        My decisions will be determined by my hope in Christ

            The conduct of God’s living grace

                        Pride gives way to humility
                        Complaints give way to appreciation
                        Greed gives way to generosity
                        Selfishness gives way to service

MESSAGE:
“EFFECTIVE PARENTING IS A CHRISTIAN COUPLE
OBEYING THE LORD BY LIVING AND TEACHING

You are to love God completely

            I am God’s son/daughter (John 1:10-13)
            I am Jesus’ brother/sister (Hebrews 2:10-11)

You are to love others sacrificially

            Be wise in your purpose (Luke 12:16-21)
            Be ready in your service (Mark 15:21)

            Who is God?
            What is God doing?
            Who am I?
            What has gone wrong?
            What has God done about the problem?
