The Lord is coming
Be ready
Content: II Thessalonians 1:1-5
Greeting (1-2)
Remember who you are
Remember how you should live
Give thanks to God for His works of grace (3)
God answers prayer
God builds Christian character
Give praise among men for their works of faith (4-5)
Works of faith overcome the world
Works of faith meet God's approval
MESSAGE:
"ALWAYS GIVE THANKS TO GOD
FOR HIS WORK OF GRACE,
AND GIVE PRAISE AMONG MEN
FOR THEIR WORKS OF FAITH."
Introduction: "Our second language is spiritual"
The present world situation
Many in the world do not believe the Gospel
They do not know who God is
They do not believe what Jesus Christ has done
From these unbelievers come the oppressors of
Christians
Christians respond to oppression with faith
The future world situation
Jesus Christ will return in His greatness
He will come with the authority of Heaven
He will come in the spiritual power of Heaven
Jesus Christ will judge the world with the fire of righteousness
The oppressors will be oppressed
They will be excluded from the Lord's sight
They will be removed from the Lord's power
The oppressed will have rest and honor in the
MESSAGE:
"KEEP ON RESISTING THE
ENEMIES OF YOUR FAITH
AND YOU WILL HAVE A FAVORED PLACE
IN THE WORLD TO COME."
Introduction: "At it again"
Context: Works of faith
Faith sees afflictions as opportunities
Faith is heaven's badge
Faith now leads to rescue and rest forever
Content: The prayer and path of worthiness
The prayer of worthiness
Your worth to the Lord should grow
In Christ your worth to God is great
In this life your worth to God can grow
Your walk before the Lord should not waiver
Doing good starts in your heart
Doing good is seen in your choices
Your witness for the Lord should be clear
When your character reflects His character
When His conduct is seen in your conduct
The path to worthiness
As you improve your walk, you will improve your
witness
As you improve your witness, you will grow in your worth
MESSAGE:
"WHAT YOUR WALK IS, SO IS
YOUR WITNESS;
WHAT YOUR WITNESS IS, SO IS YOUR WORTH."
Introduction: "The best ruler would be Jesus Christ!"
Prophetic glossary
The rapture - The coming of our Lord for His Church
in the air
The day of the Lord - A time of tribulation followed by blessing
The apostasy - An unholy alliance of the world with Satan
The man of lawlessness - The Antichrist
The restrainer - The Holy Spirit in the church age
Prophetic problem: Have we missed/misplaced the rapture?
Be careful of your sources
You have not missed/misplaced the rapture
The day of the Lord has not begun
The Apostasy has not yet happened

The power of lawlessness has always been present

The Lord will judge the one who deceives (2:4, 8-10a)

They did not receive the love of the truth unto salvation (10c)

The Lord will give them over to error (11a)

"THE LORD WILL JUDGE THE ONE

Pray for the preaching of the gospel

Keep trusting in the Lord
Keep doing what is right
Keep growing in grace
Love as God loves
Be faithful as Christ is faithful

General membership
Certain undisciplined members
Instructions to the general congregations (6-10,13)
Do not follow the lifestyle of the undisciplined
It is contrary to your mission
It is contrary to our ministry to you
Disciples are responsible
Disciples are diligent
Disciples are servants
Disciples are examples
It is contrary to what you have been taught
Keep following the path of good works
Instructions to the undisciplined members (11-12)
You know who you are
We know who you are
Start living the correct Christian life
MESSAGE:
"LET'S MAKE CERTAIN
THAT WHAT WE ARE APPROVING
IS CORRECT CHRISTIAN LIVING."
Introduction: "In the wrong line again"
Context: Stay focused
Be ready for the return of Jesus (I Thessalonians)
Be certain you are ready for the return of Jesus (II Thessalonians)
Content: Keep the faith
We are to obey the Lord for the Church's purity
When one believer offends another - Resolve or
restrict
When a believer is teaching doctrinal error - Defend or remove
When a believer is overtaken by sin - Cautious restoration
When a believer is a repeating troublemaker - Rebuke, rebuke, then remove
When a believer lives an unruly life - Admonish or isolate
When a believer chooses open immorality - Restore or dismiss
We are to trust in the Lord for the Church's unit
We are to serve the Lord for the Church's personality
MESSAGE:
"WHEN WE OBEY, TRUST, AND
SERVE,
WE ARE IN LINE TO BECOME
THE PEOPLE WE WERE CALLED TO BE."
