Our Beliefs at Christ Community Church
WE SEEK to be a congregation known for our faithfulness to the Holy Scriptures. Our stated beliefs are drawn from the Bible; we believe they are orthodox and relevant for all areas of life in the 21st century. Please take a moment to read our understanding of biblical teaching.
WE BELIEVE the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be verbally inspired of God, inerrant in the original writings, and of supreme and final authority in faith and life. Psalm 119 -- 2 Timothy 3:16-17 -- 2 Peter 1:20-21
WE BELIEVE in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Deuteronomy 6:4 -- Psalm 90:2 --Matthew 28:19 -- John 10:30 -- Acts 5:3-4
WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and that He is true God and true man. Luke 1:27, 34-35 -- John 1:1,14 -- Philippians 2:5-8 -- 1 Timothy 2:5
WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit is the third member of the Godhead, that His ministry is to convict the unsaved, to regenerate, baptize, indwell, seal, and control those who are saved. John 3:3-7; 14:16; 16:8-11 -- 1 Corinthians 12:13 -- Galatians 5:16-25 -- Ephesians 1:13
WE BELIEVE that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred both spiritual and physical death; that all human beings are born with a sinful nature; and that those who reach moral responsibility become sinners in thought, word and deed. Genesis 1:27 -- Psalm 51:5 -- Romans 3:10-19; 5:12 -- Ephesians 2:1
WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. Matthew 26:28 -- Romans 3:25-26 -- 1 Corinthians 15:3 -- 2 Corinthians 5:14, 21
WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there for us as High Priest and Advocate. 1 Corinthians 15:4 -- Ephesians 4:10 -- Hebrews 1:3; 4:14-15; 7:25; 8:1
WE BELIEVE in "that blessed hope," the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 -- 1 Thessalonians 1:10; 4:13-18 -- Titus 2:13
WE BELIEVE that all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and that they become the children of God and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ. John 1:12; 3:3 -- Romans 8:16-17 -- 1 Corinthians 12:13 -- Galatians 3:26 -- 1 Peter 1:3-5
WE BELIEVE in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost. John 5:28-29 -- 2 Corinthians 5:8 -- 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 -- Revelation 20:11-15
WE BELIEVE in the eternal security of all believers. John 5:24; 10:27-30 -- Romans 8:35-39 -- Philippians 1:6 -- Hebrews 7:25 -- Jude 1:24
WE BELIEVE that the Christian has been crucified, buried, made alive, risen, and ascended with Christ, and that his proper attitude is to turn to God from idols to serve the true God, and to wait for His Son from Heaven. Romans 6:1-13 -- Galatians 2:20 -- Ephesians 2:1-10 -- 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10
WE BELIEVE that the sins of believers have been judged, that the faithful service of believers will be rewarded. John 1:29 -- Romans 6:10-11 -- 1 Corinthians 3:12-15
WE BELIEVE that the unrighteous are now under the wrath of God and are awaiting death and judgment. Romans 1:18-32; 2:8-9, 12
WE BELIEVE that the believer is responsible to carry or to send the Gospel to the uttermost part of the earth, by word of mouth, by financial support, and by effectual fervent prayer. Genesis 28:22 -- Malachi 3:10 -- Matthew 28:19-20 -- Acts 1:8 -- 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 -- Ephesians 6:18-20 -- Philippians 1:5; 4:18-19
WE BELIEVE that all believers should be baptized, should join the visible church, and should observe the Lord's Supper. Luke 22:17-20 -- Acts 2:41; 18:7-8 -- 1 Corinthians 11:23-27 -- Hebrews 10:25
WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit has gifted all Christians so that they might minister during the church age; that while the Spirit may give any gift at any time, He gives them in conformity to the Scriptures; that some gifts given, such as prophecy, apostleship, tongues, and miracles were foundational and temporary in nature. Romans 12:3-8 -- 1 Corinthians 12:7, 11; 13:8 -- Ephesians 2:20; 4:11-16 -- Hebrews 2:3-4
